Hopefully someone out there can answer this.

Why does FCP need to (sometimes) write video for a project prior to mastering to tape or “Edit to tape”/

I completely rendered the project in FCP prior to going to Edit to tape mode, but it still says it needs to write video.

Even when I let it do this and then start laying it to tape and have to stop for some reason, when I go to lay it down again it has to re-render again.

An answer to this would be great, because it eats up a lot of time.

    Thanks

    Steve

That’s one of the reasons why I never ever use Print to Video.

I just render the effects, MIXDOWN THE AUDIO, and play the timeline out to a tape.

I use Edit to tape, so that I can have my programs starting on the hour as well as being able to do insert edits if needed.

The problem that I am having doesn’t happen all the time, but it does happen enough to make it frustrating, when you are dealing with 30 min shows.

    Thanks
