Writing Video before edit to tape
Hi all,
I’m laying off a 28minute PAL prores (HQ) sequence, all fully rendered, to digi via a kona card.
A couple of times I’ve had to stop the layoff as I’ve noticed a small error which needs correcting. This is all fine but when I pick up the layoff again doing an assemble edit Final Cut insists on writing video for over 4 minutes which I assumed it had already done when I started the layoff in the first place. The last time I had to stop the layoff was to correct a name in the credit roller, so I only needed to relay the last 2 minutes (its a long roller). I rendered the roller first but still FCP insisted on writing video for over 4 mins before starting the layoff, the same amount of time as it did when I initially tried to layoff the whole sequence.
Is this correct? Can anyone tell me what Final Cut is actually doing when it says it is writing video before a layoff?
Thanks in advance
