  • writing on outline with multiple stroke filters

    hey guys,

i have a precomp with an image of a gun. i have created multiple masks around the various elements that i want to ‘write on” using the stroke filter.

all the masks write on in isolation but when i turn all the stroke filters on they seem to cancel eachother out.

the problem seems that when i apply the second mask the write on effect dissapears.

the first mask is the outline of the gun silhoutte and the other masks are for some of the detail of the gun.

can someone please advise as to what I’m doing wrong. do i actually need to duplicate my gun image and apply the mask to each instance of the image rather than stacking the stroke filter on the same layer?

    thanks

tried my own suggestion and it worked. is this the best way to achieve this kind of effect or is there a better way?

you have one layer with a series of masks, and one stroke effect, correct?

you can choose ‘all masks’ from the stroke effect controls to use all masks to generate the effect. inn addition you can set it to stroke the paths sequentially or all at the same time.
