  • Write On Limitation in 1080

    Hey All,

A quick question – I have a 1080 project that I’m trying to reveal an non-precomped, collapsed illustrator layer in. I tried using the Write On trick, but the Brush size won’t exceed 50, leaving my layer still partially unrevealed on either side after the Start point reaches it’s end.

Does anyone know if there’s a work around for this? Expression or otherwise? I was also wondering if there was a way to apply a mask to path created with the pen tool?

    Thanks for the suggestions.

I’m not quite sure exactly the effect that you’re trying to do, but can I ask why you’re using the Write-On effect rather than a Paint or Eraser?

With those you can select your mask path, copy it (Cmd-C) and paste it onto the appropriate Paint path (either eraser or brush).

That way you can get the exact path you need and no limitations on diameter.

    Hope that helps,
    Ben

The After Effects CC (12.2) update increases the maximum size of the brush for the Write-on and Stroke effects to 200 pixels (from the previous maximum of 50).
