I am using After Effects CS4. I imported some “swoosh” graphics from Illustrator as Cropped Comp into After Effects.

In AE – I add a write on effect to one of the swooshes to make it look like it paints on.

BUT – when I scale up or rasterize that swoosh, the paint effect doesn’t follow.

I spend alot of time doing the write on effect, but I cant scale it up.

    Any thoughts?

Try using the write-on effect on a solid layer above the layer you’re trying to reveal, parent the solid to the layer (make sure they’re the same size and that the write-on effect lines up properly), then set your layer to use the solid as an alpha track matte.

How did you use the write-on effect to reveal the swoosh?
