    hi,
I have an image which i would like to have the look like it it being drawn on to the screen so i traced the image out with the pen tool in after effects, so how do i convert these strokes in to keyframes for the brush position of the write-on effect? i have tried copying them all then pasting them in to the brush strokes but when i paste them, it always turns into a mask and nothing happens when i push play.
    what do i do!?
    thanks!

If you’ve already drawn the mask you can apply effect>render>stroke, set to “all masks” if necessary, and animate the end point of the stroke.

spaceman says hello after a long time and asks
if someone here could guide a course towards
a link pertaining to a write-on effect as light.
drawing with light basically! Spaceman saw it somewhere
but the visor was fogged up at the time.

    spaceman thanks all.

I can suggest trying John Dickinson’s Handwritten Text using AE’s Brush Tool from May 13. It works well and “may” be applicable. I am not sure how to embed links, but here is the URL of the tutorial (https://www.creativecow.net/show.php?page=/articles/dickinson_john/handwritten_text/index.html).
