Wrapping some text around a cylinder and rotating it??
I’d like to create some text spinning around an imaginary cylinder. I’m sure people here will know what I mean. Kinda like wrapping a word around a invisible cylinder then rotating it around its Y axis.
Unfortunately I’m unsure how to go about this? Is there a method/function in AE(7) which would provide this ability quickly and easily? Or am I going to be forced to create the effect in Maya and comp it in?
P.s. I don’t know if 3D Invigorator does this but I can’t check as the classic version I downloaded won’t work with my (trial) ae7 for some reason?? So answers using just vanila ae please.
Any help really appreciated.

Just use CC Cylinder. It’s came with AE 6.5 and 7.0.

Unfortunately I don’t appear to have CC cylinder?
Is it an effect only included in the retail version of 7? I’m using the trial of currently, I’ll upgrade when I can afford it after this job.
If it is I can’t go back to 6.0 as my version is 5.5.
Is there another way to do this perhaps?

Not sure about the version you have. But on the standard upgrade or full install disc there is a folder called Cycore. Once installed it adds (i’m guessing) about 30 some-odd effects to AE. They all have the prefix “CC”. CC Cylinder does exactly what you’re wanting.

Just found out it’s not in the trial version. Could download the demo of from Cycore but there’s a lovely watermark emblazened across its output…
