So how do you handle big timelines, lots of effects and composition windows? I’m looking to optimize my flow. I’ve really grown to like the new UI (once I figured out I could use the spacebar Hand shortcut to scroll up/down the timeline), but it’s too damn flexible!

I’ve actually found myself not needing to go too far beyond the default workspace as I only work in SD NTSC. I usually manage lots of layers and effects by pre-composing as much as possible, which requires some planning ahead and knowledge of how AE deals with pre-comps but I find it’s the easiest way to break my project into nice bite-sized pieces.
Plus I can update the individual pre-comp elements without having to wait for the entire final comp to render!
