    Hi everyone ,
can anyone tell me if they know of a way to save a workspace setting across a network of machines?
I spend a lot of time (?) remaking workspace settings when i move between networked machines. I suppose there must be a preference somewhere i could copy around but i cannot find it .

    Anyone out there know?

    cheers

On my mac, there’s a bunch of XML files in
    ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/7.0/

    there’s:

    ModifiedWorkspaces/UserWorkspace1.xml
    ModifiedWorkspaces/UserWorkspace2.xml
    ModifiedWorkspaces/UserWorkspace3.xml
    ModifiedWorkspaces/UserWorkspace4.xml
    ModifiedWorkspaces/UserWorkspace5.xml
    ModifiedWorkspaces/UserWorkspace6.xml
    ModifiedWorkspaces/UserWorkspace7.xml
    ModifiedWorkspaces/UserWorkspace8.xml
    OriginalUserWorkspaces/UserWorkspace1.xml
    Workspaces.xml

the Workspaces.xml only lists the names of the 8 factory ones.
the other xml files appear to be the presets, either as modified from the factory-presets (ModifiedWorkspaces/) and one I’ve created from scratch (OriginalUserWorkspaces)

Confusingly, the name of the Preset is stored near the end of the xml- file, not the beginning, scrolll down to the key called ‘UserName’ to find out what preset you’re looking at if you open them in a text-editor.

I’m not sure if just copying these XMLf-iles onto another system will have them show up in the pop-up.
BTW. The currently active Workspace is stored by name at the end of the “Adobe After Effects 7.0 Prefs” file.
