Hey all. I’m wondering if any of you have resources you can point me in the direction of as far as syncing cameras via timecode is concerned. We’ve had a few “reality style” projects over the past year or two that involved a couple different cameras and multi channel separate system sound. Every time getting all the material synced up has been a big hassle. Our standard setup for interviews is 2 DSLRs synced with plural eyes, but for these reality style shoots we’ll use our hpx500 and rent an additional hpx/hvx cam.

In theory it seems like there should be multiple relatively simple ways to get all the footage ingested/synced up, but every time its been a huge pain. Multi cam feature would either give errors or just not work when trying to sync with timecode (or audio for that matter.) Plural eyes didn’t like mxf files, so tried jumping through some hoops to get those to play nice.

What I’d really love is a series of tutorials or book or something that I could go through starting from ground zero. Or any tips on a reality style production workflow. I get the basic concepts of how its *supposed* to work, but can’t seem to make things play nicely together. Any help/guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks.
