I’m new here and new to the Adobe Suite too, so feeling my way I might not be using the right language or using the best methods.

I want to remove a table from the background in a PP film clip. My plan is to create a new background to lay under the clip and then to cut out the table from my clip.

The background to replace the table will be made using a section of bare wall in the same clip.

To get the bare wall under layer I want to import some frames into photoshop and make a PSD that I will then import back into PP and lay under the table clip.

My question is, how do I get the frames from PP into Photoshop? Im using CS6.

    Thanks for your guidance

Here’s the word straight from Adobe:

    https://help.adobe.com/en_US/premierepro/cs/using/WS6693F22C-C06E-431a-A634-62343C65BA7B.html#WS4AF3A4A1-D276-4f3b-A5B2-D3C19D3269DA

If your camera is locked off in the shot, it would be possible to just grab a still, paint it in Photoshop, and bring it back in to Premiere Pro. Part of the workflow will depend on what the ultimate usage is: do you want to use this background to put something else on top (like a keyed object or person), or is it only the table which has to be removed, and that’s it? Also, depending on the format of your video, you might be able to just open it directly in Photoshop, retouch it, then render it off to use in PPro. As of CS5, Photoshop could import:

    • MPEG‑1 (.mpg or .mpeg)
    • MPEG‑4 (.mp4 or .m4v)
    • MOV
    • AVI
    • MPEG‑2 is supported if an MPEG‑2 encoder is installed on your computer.

Thankyou for responding Joe. Where I am stuck is that I cannot find a control in PP to export footage, or a frame, into Photoshop. I am looking for a specific pathway through the menu structure. All the docs seem to stop at big picture statements about what is possible, neglecting to set out the procedural steps.
    cheers

Use the Export Frame button which is right on either the Source or Program Monitor, or even simpler, the Shortcut Key, which is Ctrl+Shift+E for the PC, or Shift+E on the Mac.

Here’s where the info on Export Frame lives in the help files:
