Today, I exported a google sketchup model of the earth as a 3ds file and imported it into photoshop cs4 extended. The 3d dimensions of the object were preserved, so I once again exported it as a .psd in order to incorporate it into a title animation sequence in After Effects CS4.

My concept is to slowly zoom the camera in on a rotating earth until it is at my intended country of destination. I would believe this is feasible considering I am simply transforming the parameters of the object.

Once I place the object into my composition; the placed object is only workable as a 2D image (rotated 90 degrees, the object is flat). I have tried importing it as both a footage layer and as a composition; with Live Photoshop 3D checked. Also, I have tried working with both the layers and the composition.

Am I missing a step here? Or is my project simply not within the realms of AE feasibility??
