Ok, maybe I’m going about this all wrong but…

I working on a 16×9 SD Mini DV project, and I’m creating some animated graphics. Its basically a chart, and I want to be able to zoom around to different parts of the chart, as well as zoom in close to highlight specific sections, all in 3D. I’m using a jump-back aniimated background for the background layer.

The only problem I had was when my camera got close in, the text would get fuzzy, I take it because I’m essentially zooming the graphic (which I created in Photoshop using the 720 widescreen preset) over 100 percent of its original size.

I made the Photoshop chart graphic 2160 x 1440, made a pre-comp with the same size, and then brought my pre-comp into a 720 x480 widescreen comp to do the camera movement. I also animated some layers opacity in the pre-comp.

It all works fine, but my render times are very long, about an hour for a 5 second clip. Is there a better way I should be doing this? Thanks.

You should consider doing your text in Illustrator or directly in After Effects, you can then Continuously Rasterize the text layer and it will use the vector data and shouldn’t become blurry when zoomed in.

Thanks Darby… I just started learning Photoshop which is why I used it for the graphic. I thought of vector graphics and Ilustrator when I saw that the “continually rastersize” button wasn’t an option the first time I tried, but I don’t know Ilustrator. One more program to learn I guess! Thanks again.
