Working with mv2 files in FCP
Hi there,
I’m making a music video using footage I’ve ripped from a DVD. I looked around for advice on the highest quality codec and resolution “ripable” from a DVD. I came up with mv2 and aiff audio. Everything play and sounds just fine in final cut. But when I export it, there are lots of interlaced lines (I’m failry sure that’s what they are) it only happens when there’s movement in the frame and only around the mobile areas. I was thinking it might be my sequence settings or the codec I’m using to export. I made both the “10-but uncompressed” codec, and set the resolution to the same size as the original file (720X480).
Questions:
1) Is using mv2 and aiff the highest quality and resolution for ripping from a DVD?
2) If so, what settings should i be using in FCP?
3) and why do I have interlaced lines? (they’re in the viewer during playback, and even more so in the exported footage)I’m pretty well versed in FCP, but haven’t used this particular format yet, so I don’t know if I’m doing it properly.
Programs at my disposal:
MactheRipper
MPEG Streamclip
Handbrake
Compressor
FCP
Quicktime (w/ MPEG-2 codec)
