I know this has to be a simple task I just can’t seem to figure it out…
Im using low resolution renders of after effects animation in a project and Im looking for a way to define them as proxy files so that they will fill the current canvas of the project I am working on. Right now because they are low rez they are half the size, but I won’t be ready to export the final animation until the edit in FCP is complete, then I will output final resolution in AE. They only way I see to do it now is either creating an offline project of the entire thing or resizing manually to the canvas then resizing again when I have the final files but this can’t be right. Is there a way to have them fill the window and designate them as placeholder files?

    Thanks!

When you render these proxies out of AE, edit the “Output Module” in the Render Queue and click the box next to “Stretch”. In these boxes, you can set the “Stretch To” size to match your FCP sequence size. It will still render half res, but it will blow the redered footage up for you.

So you’ll either need to go back and re-render, or import your proxies into AE and stretch them; or, just use Quicktime and Export the proxies to the correct size and in the future use the “Stretch” command in AE.
