    hi all.
did a search and couldnt find anything about this specifically.
apologies in advance if this is a dumb quesion- i’m fairly new to this….

i have a quicktime that was exported from final cut- DVC PRO HD 720p60 1280 x 720 (1.33:1) 23.976 fps. Imported into AE and made a comp by dragging onto the comp button- settings seem fine. when i view it in the comp it has jagged diagonals and doesnt look as sharp as the original- it looks fine when i look at it in the footage viewer. Isn’t this not suposed to have fields. It interprets it with /sepreate fields- off/ by default.

i need to get this back to the final cut pro editor and i want to look as good as it did before i got my hands on it. if anyone could shed some light on this it would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks

Seperate Fields should be off, so you’re OK there.

Just ensure that the layer is set to Best Quality and Comp View is set to Full Rez. & Max quality.

do you have the pixel aspect correction turned on?

this makes your footage look correct (ie not stretched) but is only a preview and not the best quality.

if you disable the correction the footage should look fine.

i think that it is probably the pixel aspect correction, turning that off (as mentioned) would help. also setting the comp to 1280×720 and square pixel would help, that’s normally how i work with dvcprohd footage.
