Working with files from Final Cut Pro – what should I request the exports as / how to export uncompressed from Final Cut?
Hi there,
I’ve been attempting to research what the best way is to get uncompressed files out of Final Cut Pro, for work in Premiere Pro and Speedgrade.
The project is a short film I shot on a Canon 5D mkII, which has been edited in final cut, and is coming back to me to do some final work, and colour grading. I want to make sure I’m not loosing any quality, and colour information at all, and thought it would be best for it to be exported as an image sequence (like DPX or TIFF etc), preferably 10 bit.However I’ve read some posts on here with people having enormous trouble trying to get good quality images out of the quicktime conversion thing in Final Cut.
Has anyone had a similar situation before / knows what the best thing for me to request would be?

Export your files out of FCP as ProRes (Whichever flavor you prefer)

So like ProRes 422 HQ you recon ? Or would you go 4444 ?

It depends on what your source footage is and your deliverable specs and your system/ storage specs are. Is there a reason for you to go to 4444? Probably not.
