I’m trying create an effect of necklace over a background of a trees in a snow.
On V2 using Matte Key is a tga image of a necklace.
On V1 using Avid Pan & Zoom is a jpg image of the trees.
The problem that I’m facing is when I’m trying to manipulate the necklace parameters on V2 it effects V1 as well. like the 2 tracks are ganged. The question is how to control the images on the upper track (v2) independently ?
I’m not sure what am I doing wrong

    hi Avi

let me see if i got you right,

you imported a tga (sequence?) with alpha.. which came in already as a matte key in the bin?

or, you imported a tga, then applied matte key on it on timeline?

when you say manipulate… how do you mean? by adding a color effect on a higher track? or by nesting it to the clip on V2?

when i do these sort of thing…

    1. i import my TGA with alpha, so its a matte key in the bin
    2. on the timeline, double click the TGA clip to pop up the nesting layer… if you imported with alpha, you should get two of these, a “graphic fill” and an “alpha matte” place the color effect on the graphic fill,
    3. now when manipulating, you will only affect the TGA on V2

    hope this helps.

If what you’re trying to manipulate is the size and position of the necklace, use the matte key’s own resizing and positioning parameters, don’t add another resize effect on the V2.

Just promote your v2 with an alpha to the 3D DVE and keyframe as you wish. It will alony affectthe necklace. You’ll get better results from After Effects though as AE doesn’t alias everything liek Avid’s DVE does.
