Working with Audio Levels in CS5.5
Hello all, I am currently in the final stages of finishing up a project and I am currently working on creating a proper audio mix. I have worked with FCP7 for years and found audio mixing and editing to be quite intuitive using that program.
This is my first major project using Premiere in quite a while (almost 8 years) and I have been using the Audio Effects panel to change the dB level of clips in the timeline. I have found this to work for most of the clips, but a specific section has badly peaked audio and I need to drop the levels significantly. I have tried repeatedly to change the levels using the Level value signifier under Volume and although I have tried modifying the levels to the lower most extremes, there is no change in the db levels displayed on screen or in headphones.
My clip settings for this section are 720p/60 (HVX) 4 channel mono (Linked). Only the first two tracks have audio recorded.
I have found that the levels change works when you convert a section to an AFX composition, but want to avoid doing that as much as possible. Anyone have any suggestions as to where I am going awry and if there is a better method for manipulating audio?
Thanks,
Dan
