I’m outputting the video to the NTSC 4:3 SD 720×486 that was shot and edited in HD. Sony EX format uses square pixels so I figured that for downconversion I would create a custom 720×540 square pixels sequence. Another reason would be that our graphic elements are rendered in that size.

Kona has no problem playing that but I’m not sure what it actually does on the output end: converts square to rectangular pixels and resizes the frame to 720×486? Or chops the picture by 54 pixels?

Is there a better way of dealing with this whole 1920×1080 HD -KONA- 720×486 SD conversion?

[Michael Niemcewicz] “Sony EX format uses square pixels”

What? Not in SD, or even HD if shooting 1440×1080.

I’d work in an HD timeline, then use the Kona for a hardware center cut down-convert.
