Activity Forums Boris FX Working with 6 video layers

  • Working with 6 video layers

I’m fine working with Boris Red (using the 6 input effect) as long as I limit it to 5 layers. As soon as I add a 6th then I’m unable to see it as Avid tracks V1 and V2 seem to both be the same (within Boris).

Any assistance on working with 6 tracks would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Doug

    Hi Doug,

Are you using AVX 1.5 or 2.0? And what version of RED are you working with?

    Thanks,

    Peter.

I’m working with Red 4.3 but am unsure as to which AVX version I’d have to check.

The good news is I finally got it to work. Prior to this I’d used a “6 input” effect (which had a Video 1 and a Video 2 track by default) and then duplicated tracks and then changed which “V” track they were pointing to until each video track was covered.

What finally worked was using the “new track” function in Boris which automatically set each subsequent track so the first one set as V3 the second as V4 and so on through V6.

For whatever reason it worked doing it this way so that was a nice thing. I don’t know what’s special about the “new track” way rather than the just duplicating the track but I won’t complain.

    Thanks.
