    Hi all,

My bosses are going out of the country this weekend and are wanting to have an fcp project that they can work on whilst they are out there using their Laptop and an external HD.

As it stands all of the edit suites source the rushes/archive etc from a communal 16tb raid.

For him to be able to work on the project is all I need to do to Media Manage the clips onto the hard-drive?
Will there be any reconnections issues?

It’s worth noting that he won’t be doing many/ if any major changes just running out extra/back up exports and making slight tweaks…

Any help/ advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Andrew

[Andrew Cross] “For him to be able to work on the project is all I need to do to Media Manage the clips onto the hard-drive?”

ALL 16TB worth? What will he store that on? You can use the Media Manager to RECOMPRESS to a smaller bit rate format, like ProRes proxy…but the files might still take up more room than is really portable. Offline RT possibly. But with that much footage, that’ll take days.

[Andrew Cross] “Will there be any reconnections issues?”

If you use ProREs Proxy…no, just reconnect to the full res originals. If you recompress to offline RT, the frame size is a lot different, so you will have to adjust for this when you reconnect.
