We are having major problems with our Workgroup Videohub, where it will spontaneously shut itself “off” for no apparant reason, and we lose all connection to the rack in our machine room (of course, it tends to always happen in the middle of a client supervised session!).

Sometimes we can temporarily get around this by unplugging the power from the VHub and plugging it back in. But that only works for a few minutes, and then it shuts down again. Very friggen aggravating.

When I say “shut down”, I mean that the Vhub loses all capaibilty of passing any type of signal….HOWEVER the red light on the USB port in the back continues to be lit. So there’s obviously still power getting to the unit.

At first I thought it was our XP box being flakey with it’s USB ports, but I just tried it plugging in to my Mac, and the same thing happens.

Do we have a defective unit?

    Hi Mel,

It sounds like a bad power supply to me. If you contact your reseller, they should be able to order you a replacement. Or contact us directly at support[at]blackmagic-design.com and we’ll try to sort it out.

    regards
