I would appreciate any critique/advice on my planned workflow for an upcoming project:

Integrating architectural animation with interviews/talking head shots, shot in 720p30.

Animation will be delivered as image sequences from 3DSMax (3DS Max project settings: 720×480 0.9PAR Anamorphic). I will put these trough After Effects and render out ProRes files of same res. Unable to get HD renders from animators due to render times…they have to stay SD.

Delivery: online widescreen video; widescreen DVD

    PLANNED WORKFLOW:

Edit interview/talking head segments natively in 720p. Design motion graphics in 720p.

Add animation to 720×480 0.9PAR Anamorphic timeline. Paste edited interview segments. Paste motion graphics.

    Anything I could do differently?

Could I ask for anything different resolution from my animator to avoid non-square pixels in my edit?

If nothing else, I appreciate any advice.

What’s the delivery format to be? A web stream or a DVD or HD broadcast or?

You might find then that working in an SD 16:9 sequence may look better in the end because you’re not up razzing the SD to HD… try it both ways and then compress to the deliverables with say, just a couple of shots using the SD and HD footage in a short sequence. See if you notice a difference between the two in the end.
