workflow question FCP S2
so we’re onlining a show…we receive the project, 90 minute show…media manage to create offline clips….reconnect graohics and XDCam footage…recapture all HDCam and HDV footage…all goes swimmingly…
here’s where it gets sticky…we receive a 60 minute version of the same show…same footage, just different cuts…go through media manage again to create offline clips…then try to reconnect, since all the clips are online in the 90, figure we could just relink and we’re done…
but no…some of the clips want to change in and out points…durations….and if we let that happen, a lot of clips are wrong…we ended up having to recapture all the stuff from take…(XDCam and graphics etc were fine since they linked back to the true master clips)
what is the best workflow for doing something like this? did we do it right? did we waste time?

if it matters, FCP S2 on 1st gen intel 8core Mac Pro, 8gb ram…fiber storage….

Sounds like the sequence is still looking for the original master clips at their original duration…
Select all the sequence clips, right click and select “make sequence clips independent”.
Reconnect the media…does this help?
