  • Workflow Question: Double Compressing my footage?

Here’s my scenerio: I’ve got an Avid Media Composer Adrenaline (v2.2.6), and a DVCAM DSR-1800 Deck that I’ve connected to my B.O.B via component BNC cables. The questions are: 1. When I digitize footage from the DSR-1800 over component video cables using Avid’s DV25 411 OMF codec am I double compressing my footage? 2. When I digitize footage from the DSR-1800 over firewire using Avid’s DV25 411 OMF codec am I get the same quality of image that is on my tape? 3. What is the best work flow (i.e. codec, cable configuration, firewire) to get the best quality using my current equipment. Thanks for any guidance.
