  • Workflow query: NTSC HDV clips for PAL edit

Following on from last week’s post, I’ve got a lovely little job next week:

PAL SD deliverable for broadcast (mastered on to Digibeta – though I’m not onlining)

Content is predominantly NTSC 1080 60i HDV shot on a Z1 set incorrectly (should have been PAL). Delivered to me as digitised clips. Rest of content mix of PAL HDV and SD (DVCam & QTs)

Will Compressor do a reasonable job of converting NTSC-PAL if I keep it HD (no frame size adjustments)so I can batch convert all master clips? Long winded but at least when they’re done they’re done…

Failing that, any other suggestions? I know there are many ways to handle this but I’m looking for the path of least (potential) foulups… I’ve got Natress’ excellent standards converter, but I’m thinking it’ll be too long-winded to use for a lot of clips. or whilst editing.

    All suggestions gratefully received…

    Jason
