I can`t quite get the workflow between Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects. This is what I do:

    Question 1:

    1. I start of by importing footage from my camcorder.
    2. Then I am editing it in premiere pro
    3. Then I export it as an .AVI file on my computer.

    Everything works fine until now.

    4. The next thing I want to do is to apply the magic bullet filter so I can get a movie look. Then I press ctrl+alt+0 and apply my comp. Then I export it out and save it.
(Why cant I see this footage in windows media player, it has big problems of playing It.)
    5. Here is when the problem accure. I then again export it to premiere to export it to mini dv or burn it out on dvd. What happens is that I have to render it AGAIN. And everything works SOOO slow on my computer. The render takes forever.

Is there something wrong with my workflow? Is there a better way?

    Question 2:

Why does it not look like widescreen when I Import it as widescreen into AAE in a comp that is for widescreen??? It get the look of standard footage..

    Thanks!!

When you export out of After Effects, use the same codec you are using in Premiere Pro. That way no rendering will be required in Premiere Pro.

I use the Microsoft DV codec. Some people would use the Canopus codec, for example. And when I create a project in After Effects set for 720X480 using a Pixel Aspect Ratio (PAR) of 1.2, it comes out widescreen. Then when exported, and imported into a widescreen project in Premiere Pro, I don’t have to render.

Can you tell me whitch settings I have to use in premiere and after effects:

    I`m shooting in:

    1.Standard PAL 48Khz
For editing with IEEE1394 (FireWire/i.LINK) DV equipment.
    Standard PAL video (4:3 interlaced).
    48kHz (16 bit) audio.

    General
    Editing mode: DV Playback
    Timebase: 25.00 fps

    Video Settings
    Frame size: 720h 576v (1.067)
    Frame rate: 25.00 frames/second
Pixel Aspect Ratio: D1/DV PAL (1.067)
    Color depth: Millions of colors

    And when I`m shooting in:

    2.PAL widescreen 48khz
For editing with IEEE1394 (FireWire/i.LINK) DV equipment.
    Widescreen PAL video (16:9 interlaced).
    48kHz (16 bit) audio.

    General
    Editing mode: DV Playback
    Timebase: 25.00 fps

    Video Settings
    Frame size: 720h 576v (1.422)
    Frame rate: 25.00 frames/second
Pixel Aspect Ratio: D1/DV PAL Widescreen 16:9 (1.422)
    Color depth: Millions of colors

What settings should i choose in premiere and after efferct????

Where can I find out what codec I`m using?

    Thanks

In Premiere you should create a standard PAL DV project, either 4:3 or widescreen depending on your footage.

In After Effects, create your comps the same way. Or just drop the footage on the new comp button and it will create the comp at the right size and duration for you.

When exporting, you need to use Video for Windows and use the Microsoft DV codec.
