  Workflow Issues

  Dear All,

  I need you expertise advice:

  Basically I have 3 HDCAM editing systems here, that are used primarily for online and offline editing. Sometimes it starts with online, then wants to go to offline, and back online. Initially I started this process by making simple mini DV copies of the tapes, having them log and capture and then upres. HOWEVER, in this case, it’s different. We have someone who’s capturing at HDCAM, and it looks great. Wants to bring the project home, cut some, possibly make some dvd’s, and then bring it back onto our station and up res it (the reason why they are taking it offline in the first place is cause they are leaving for 2 weeks and can’t clog the station). They have opted to “Downres” it to DVCPro HD, cause it works in FCP 4.5.

  The problem I’ve had is making a Mini DV quicktime from the DVCPro HD sequence, causes pixelation (when going from Square to CCR 6601) and stretches the picture. It’s also a problem when making mpeg2 files.
  Can mini dv handle square pixels?

  Does anyone have a suggestion for this workflow?
