Workflow Issue: PPro CS6 to FCP7
Hi Everyone —
I’ve got a project that I’m rough cutting and then will be handing off to another editor for fine cut, and he is more comfortable cutting in FCP7.
I initially was planning on cutting in FCP7 as well (Mac Pro 4,1, 8 core, etc), but the raw material I was given was XDCAM and NXCAM, with no ProRes versions. Given that it was around 75 hours of footage and time was a major consideration, I decided to go ahead and start my logging and selects in PPro (I didn’t know what the other editor would be cutting in at that point, but guessed FCP7) and export an XML for FCP7 if need be.
The problem, of course, is that any of the XDCAM and NXCAM .mp4 footage that I’ve been working with/adding markers to/making selects sequences with won’t be recognized by FCP7, and all of said markers/selects seqs won’t travel into FCP7.
At the very least, I’m planning on copying all of my selects clips to individual bins and export each selects clip (with handles) to ProRes. Is there anything else I can do to preserve my markers, selects sequences, and other organizational work that I’ve done for import into FCP7? I’m guessing not, but am game for any suggestions the herd-mind might have.
Thanks!
John
