I just finished shooting a SD PAL project with a Panasonic DVC200. It will demand extensive color correction and chroma key process. It will also be de-interlaced to 25p with Magic Bullet. Then it will be up-converted to HD. Client has demanded the post to be in an uncompressed environment to avoid signal degradation. Now I know DV is compressed, but I have heard of such workflow where you edit DV uncompressed to avoid any farther degradations. I just have no idea how this is done. Do I just capture the DV footage with firewire and convert it to some kind of lossless codec before editing or do I need to capture the DV using a DVCAM deck with component or SDI out ? Or do I simply capture it in Vegas and render it out as an AVI file to convert it to uncompressed?
Could anybody point the workflow to do it in Vegas 4.0d?
Also, can I use Vegas to up convert it to HD? Is it any good quality? How do I do it in Vegas? Or is AE 6.5 better? I would appreciated if anybody could take the time to describe a detailed workflow to achieve my needs here. Thanks in advance.
