  • Workflow, from importing to export. How to keep the quality?

I have searched for months for a complete guide for how to keep the video quality as high as possible trough out the editing process.

I have a great deal of knowledge in different formats and have tried to experiment my way to get ultimate quality. However I have no interest in keeping to do so and is therefore asking you if you have any tip.

Below is information about the software and hardware that I use. If my current stuff isn’t enough am I prepared to buy something that will suffice.

    Camera: Panasonic SD60

Format that the camera shoots in: AVCHD in MTS files. (1920by1080 at 14086 kb/s kb/s)

Editing software: FCExpress, Apple motion 5, quicktime, FXHome.

Right now i use the feature “log and transfer in final cut express as the program can’t read MTS files. The problem is that when I’m do this conversion i loose a lot of quality. I think that the codec being used is “Apple intermidate”.

And when I’m exporting from various programs, wich container and codec is the best, hard drive space is not a problem.

    Sincerely Henrik, Sweden
