Our facility gets video from a variety of sources, but we require Apple Pro Res 422/1920×1080/29.97/48Khz codec due to our KiPro play outs.

What is the best output format from Avid and Premiere that will reformat well in FCP?

    Thank you all…

DNxHD QUicktimes. YOu then need to download the DNxHD codecs from Avid.com…and then you can convert the files to ProRes. Or, have the people who use Avid do it…if they can. Warning, there is a gamma shift issue between these two codecs.

Premiere doesn’t have a codec. I’d have them render out as PhotoJpeg, and then you convert to ProRes.

For Premiere Pro, put the ProRes codec on the Premiere box ala $50 Compressor (if it’s a Mac) and then you can create and render out a ProRes preset.

Failing that, there’s also Animation and AVC-I 100 that would work as DI’s to ProRes.
