    Hi, some advice needed…
Got an HD project coming up in a few months for Nat Geo in the USA (I’m in the UK). I’m guessing that they’ll want it shot HDCAM, so my question is what’s the best way to post produce it?

I have a DL Extreme (FCP4.5 & G5) at the moment which I guess I’ll need to upgrade to a multibridge of some kind (HD of course). So then it’s a question of offline DVCPROHD/online uncompressed or is the DVCPROHD codec good enough to digitize to and stay with all the way through to output.

Also is there anywhere a good guide to the various flavours of HD, and associated workflows. I’m picking up information here and there and putting bits together but it’d be great if there was one comprehensive guide.

    Thanks,
    Rob

    Rob,

Offline DVCPRO-HD and online uncompressed is best, you can always hire in the uncompressed system.

This will deliver sharp pictures that do your HDCAM footage justice.

You would need a DeckLink HD (GBP 350) and hire a JH3 to get the footage in.

Give me a call (01752 704 891)if you want some free advice, I have many UK clients supplying HD content to the USA.
