Workflow – exporting images in different resolutions
Hi,
I am hoping that someone could suggest a Photohop workflow for me.
I am designing an app for iOS, Web and Android. The app will display different product images. I have defined 3 sizes, not proportional, per image wich with Retina will result in a total of 6 images per product.
I have named them:
Normal res: Item.jpg, item-thumb.jpg, item-icon.jpg
Retina res: Item@2x.jpg, item-thumb@2x.jpg, item-icon@2x.jpgI will update the app with new images a lot so I wish that I could would just have to edit one image and then have it automatically crop and rezise and save the images as jpg.
I have Slicy and I have tried with smartobjects but I have not found it yet. Any suggestions?

I might be missing something, but could this be solved with actions and the “trim” + “canvas size” functions? At least if the product images are on white/isolated background trim could remove excess pixels, and then redefine the amount of whitespace needed for the differens proportions with canvas size.

I would record a set of macros – one macro for each image size. Then, record a new macro that incorporates all 6 of the prior macros.

I think that might work but maybe creating a script could be better. I would like a name prefix to be added on the different size.
