Workflow converting MKV to usable editing format
I have a client using and NVR to record video footage. The NVR only output a H.264 MKV 1920×1080 format of video. It is exports 30min files I need to speed them up over 3500% to make quick and cool looking time lapse shots. I tried a few different programs to convert the MKV to MP4, like handbrake, quicktime player, etc. But I always had a problem with quality after importing the MP4. Video only importing at 10fps, or really poor quality video.
After reading several different post here I put together a working workflow. I had to resurrect QT 7 pro and reinstall Perian on the Mac to work. I would love some assistance in tweaking it with better setting?
Open MKV with Quicktime 7 Pro
File > Export > Movie to Quicktime Movie > Options > Setting > Compression Type: Animation
file saved to MOV.It works and I am able to edit speed up the video nicely, but it take my 30min 48MB 1920×1080 MKV file and makes a 16gb MOV. kinda crazy?
any help would be great. Thanks.
