  • Workflow advice – mixing 24p and 30fps beta

I am planning the workflow for a new project — just my second in FCP (5.0)– and would appreciate some advice.

The audio/soundbites in this piece are newly-shot on beta-sp 30fps. The visuals were shot a year ago on DVCAM 24p. In fact, they were shot on 2 types of cameras which have two different approaches to 24p. This is not a 24p project. Would it be reasonable to capture the DVCAM visuals that I need and then export them in some way that makes them compatible with the beta material? Or do I even need to worry about this?

Of course I can run some tests but a few educated words up front from the experts here would save me some time. Thanks for your thoughts.

24p runs at 29.97fps, and beta runs at 29.97fps. Have a 29.97 fps sequence and you should be fine.

Thanks Shane. A quick dose of facts is a nice thing.

    Cheers,

This asusmes you shot at 24p and not 24p advanced. 24p advanced uses 2:3:3:2 pulldown which may look jittery when played back at 29.97
