    A couple of questions.
I am interested in buying this camera. I want to be able to edit like a traditional Avid. By having an NTSC monitor mirror the sequence while you work. How do you accomplish this using footage from the HVX200, I’ve done it with a DV camera in the past. However,What do you have to have to make this happen with HDDVCPRO footage?
Secondly, there hasn’t been a lot of discussion about storage for this camera. Everyone is going to need mad storage. What is the most econmical way to deal with this bad boy, I am going to need several Terabytes, Apple xsan is crazy expensive, go with HUGE drives, or someone else, or just use ultraATA drives by using the new Dual G5 pcix express and just add a bunch of drives. Or heck get some SCSI?
Is the minimun requirments the newer serail ata

DVCPROHD is a 100Mbit signal- it requires only about 4x the storage of standard DV. You can use internal SATA drives and FW800s to cut with. The camera can act as a playout to your NTSC monitor or you can get one of the BMD or Kona cards to do the downconvert. If you have FCP 5 it’s a total no-brainer.

    noah,

i thought the hvx doesn’t provide a firewire stream from a mac out to component? isn’t a aja or decklink card essential to monitor dvcprohd footage or am i missing something here? thanks.

Well are we talking about monitoring DVCPROHD on an HD monitor or downconverting DVCPROHD to SD?

i don’t know what indyplayer has, but i have a pvm-14L5 w/ component inputs. i remember reading that an aja or decklink card is required to go component out and into the monitor in order to preview w/ fcp. or can i simply hook up ala dv and firewire the camera from the mac and out component to my monitor? i believe barry green said this is not possible. any thoughts? thank you.

To an HD monitor yes, to an SD no. Then again if you are working with this camera it’s probably time to bump up to an HD monitor.
