Being a long time FCP user I just wanted to inquire about certain PPRO functions as they compare to FCP. I’ve been using PPRO now for a few months. Maybe this is something that will be addressed in future updates….or maybe I’m just not seeing it, but I sure wish the cutting tool would snap to the playback bar to make cutting more precise. Holding shift down to make multiple layer cuts is ok.. but kinda a pain. too bad the track select key command and the cutting tool – and even the pen tool couldn’t each toggle through functions from consecutive presses of the same key.. I just find PPRO keyboard workflow is slowing me down a bit.. I do understand much of it may be my FCP pre-programming… but I also don’t want to use an FCP keyboard layout in PPRO. If I’m gonna learn this thang.. I want to learn it in it’s intended form and flow. 🙂 Any shortcuts or helps for any of the things I just listed? Thanks much..

CMD-K will cut all targeted tracks at the playback head location.

In CS6, Ctl+ K is the Windows shortcut for ‘cut all at playhead’…I think Mac is Opt+ K.
We’ve been asking for toggle behavior on tool selection for a while, but Premiere Pro has been re-configuring key commands as they ran out of key combinations some time ago…

As for CS Next, Adobe has done a great job with it. They gave me a sneak peek at the product to play with before NAB and I think it’s actually better than advertised. When my crazy schedule slows down I have a whole series of workflow demos and tutorials planned.
Also hoping to get Al Mooney to actually sit still for more than 2 minutes and record a video with him when he’s in Atlanta next month to talk about Next.

Yeah I’m excited. The more I use it the more I like it. I particularly love the that you can add dynamics and EQ to an entire track in audio mixer within PPRO and automate mixdown. A couple tweaks to the edit flow and I’ll be a total PPRO street pusher. 🙂

I’m thrilled they added the clip mixer so we can finally use the mixer on rough cuts and not hose our entire mix when we have to make changes.

yeah that’s fantastic! That’s a game changer. Is there any comprehensive list of the upgrades and changes being offered in CS7 out there that you know of? I haven’t been able to find anything comprehensive yet. Just bits and pieces. Maybe it’s premature.

Nothing beyond Adobe’s official press releases and Scott Simmons’ outstanding article that he released just before NAB on PVC. I was going to write up an article, but then his came out covering pretty much exactly what I would have said.
I’m sure Adobe is still finalizing any and all features that may or may not make into to the final release, hence no complete list just yet. As with any software product, there are items that will get dropped simply because they don’t have the time to get it perfect before the official release date. But thanks to the beauty of Creative Cloud, we could see updates and new features rolled out faster than ever before.
