work flow suggestions

I have few questions regarding some work flow suggestions and some tech questions. Normally I just edit dv footage that I shoot and import into FCP 4.5 and edit it. No big deal. I had a client approach me about taking one homemade dvd 4.7GB made in iMovie with menus (they made and own all the rights) and a Fuji mini 1.4GB minidisc unedited shot on a Sony and combing them onto one disc.
Questions:
I edit on a 17″PB, 1Ghz, can I put the mini disc in the dvd slot and will it load and play and can I get it out by ejecting it? How will I get the material off of the minidisc disc? If I can load it should I make a disc image copy? I am just not sure here…How can I get both videos on to new DVD-R discs? The customer wants to combine the two pieces (each disc) that are currently on seperate discs onto one new 4.7GB disc. I am not sure how to make this happen.
I could really use direction on this one as it is out of my standard work flow. Will I even need FCP on this project?
I hope I have made myself clear about what I have and what I need to do. Thanks for any suggestions.

Not sure if your laptop can play this mini-sized DVD, but assuming it can, you really dont need FCP for this, if you have DVDSP.
Copy the VIDEO_TS folders from both discs onto your hard drive.
Use MPEG Streamclip (available free) to demultiplex the relevant video files. Assemble them onto a video track (or tracks) in DVDSP and create a new DVD.
You should have your client assume the risk for repair, if this mini-sized disc gets stuck in your computer.

Thanks for the help. I took the mini disc copied it on to a standard disc using my plextor dup. tower. That went great. Which setting/task should I use now that I have the necessary folders on my desktop using MPEG Streamclip? I do use DVD SP3 also. Thanks for your help.
