Words to layers in after effects..is there a script?
Good morning..
I’m looking to see if there is an easy way to break up a sentance into individual layers in after Effects.
I’m using Cs4, and have a lot of text to enter, it wold be much easier to enter a sentace, break it up and animate as needed. I don’t want to use the text animator controls as more control is needed.
I’m sure someone must of found a way to do this?
Any help would be grand, I’ve found some forum posts but never a simple answer to this common problem.

use illustrator and make each sentence or word (which ever you want to group together) a different layer. Import to AE as composition cropped layers.

I’d checked before, and I’ve just checked again.
There is a ‘decompose’ script but that breaks your text up into individual letters rather than words.?

I really thought I saw something like text2layers one day. But I guess it was a dream. There´s the create 3D text but I don´t know if it could help you.
This other one breaks the paragraphs into layers. But again I don´t really know if it would help you. Just another shot.

Hi thanks for that link, not bad but still not ideal.
It would work well if the text was all supplied as a nice text file.
The ideal would be:
A script that creates a small dockable window with a one click button. If not this then a normal run script would work ok.
Then you type what ever text you like,
Press the button/run script and have it break that text into individual layers for each work. Basically duplicating the layer for the text, and keeping any settings already on it, 3d position, motion blur on, material parameters etc.
Cheers…maybe I will have to start learning how to do more code than just typing ‘wiggle’ now and again.
