im new to adobe after effects!
i have a finished composition and i’m trying to export it to wav or avi or any similar video file. iv tried exporting the composition and rendering it but both results in a video that is 0 seconds long that shows a single frame from the composition.

im sure im doing something noobish but can anyone help me??

Hi. First thing to try is:

    1. Make sure your comp is selected then hit home to go to the first frame. Then hit B.
    2. Then hit end to go to the last frame in your comp. Then hit N.

THe other option is when you go into your redner settings, to make sure that the in and out settings for your render are the entire composition.

It soudns like your work area has one frame selected.

Also, depending on what shortcuts are set on your computer the above won’t work.

That’s the first thing to try.

you most likely are trying to render a comp that contains a MPG, H.264 file, HDV, etc. and it won’t work.

you need to take whatever footage that is in the comp and convert it to a format that After Effects can use to render out a file

Also, don’t “export” anything. Select your composition and hit ctrl-M or command-M, then set your render settings and hit render in the render queue.
