After exporting a Windows Media File from our Adrenaline 2.1.8 for approval purposes the file does not playback properly on that specific machine.

If it is played with the Avid open, the video is mostly thick green and pink lines, although the audio plays fine. Sometimes it crashes the entire WindowsXP OS.

If it is played after closing the Avid, the video looks better but still has chunky artifacts and playback problems.

These files will playback perfect on every other machine, including those running Xpress Pro and Symphony.

All of our machines have the same, most recent version, of Windows Media Player.

    Any ideas? This happens everytime.

Just need to quickly check the files before forwarding them to be posted on our website.

    More info:

After a reboot…and WITHOUT EVER LAUNCHING ADRENALINE…the file also plays back perfect.

Still no good…want to be able to a quick peek at the WMV right after it is created.

I’m experiencing the same thing, Chris. Didn’t realize playing them before launching Avid worked. I’ve been checking em from another computer.
wonder what happens if windows media player is open while Avid gets launched…

    Think I found a solution.

Turn off video accleration in the TOOLS>OPTIONS>PERFORMANCE menu in WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER.

I think this is a conflict with Nvidia card resources. It may also be specific to the newer 1400 card Adrenaline systems ship with. We never had this problem on the older 980XGL or 1100. But we upgraded, and voila…AN ISSUE.

    Seems to fix it.

Whatever you do, do not turn off accleration for the core Nvidia driver in your desktop display properties by accident. The Avid hates that.
