    I am fairly new to windows media encoder and I am encoding a file (converting from AVI) to play on the web and after completing my encode the program asks if you wish to open the encoded file and I click yes. The video looks a little washed out. I found that when I close the WME program and open the same file into WMP with WME closed it looks fine. Whats up with that? Which look is what my web audience is going to see?

    Essentially, the video looks washed out initially because you are using two different renderers when playing directly from WME.

    The thread you referenced was helpful but I can’t find the hardware overlay setting of WMP anywhere. Where is is?

    Should be in your graphics card’s driver control panel.
