Activity Forums Adobe After Effects WMV issue

    Hi guys,

I have been given a couple of wmvs of 2 different conference calls, filmed on a web cam to work with and edit down.

The wmvs work absolutely fine on a pc but when I view them on a mac the audio slips out of sync with video.
I have viewed them in both quicktime pro and mpeg stream clip and the same happens. I re-encoded them into dv pal format to work with in fcp but the audio is still way out.

The wmvs are about an hour long.
On the first wmv the audio only goes out of sync by about 25 seconds across the whole thing, but the 2nd goes out by 2:32, and this is coursing me real issues trying to edit, as the audio is drifting massively across each answer.

I was just wondering if anyone had come across this problem before or knows how to sort it.

I would edit them on a pc if i could, but i don’t have any software to do this, as i only use my pc (sony vaio) to check emails and word docs etc.
And sadly there is no way of getting the original source files, i’ve just got the wmvs to work with. grr

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

Try to reconvert your files in MOV format with Sorenson codec. If you need quality in your image put 3 Mb or 5 Mb in the bandwith box. In the Keyframe section put manualy keyframes every 10 or 20 frames (this makes your files bigger, but help making more reference frames for the audio).
For the audio u don’t have a lot of options, only select the best bandwith to have the best quality possible.
In the export options check the Prepare for Streaming box.

    Hope this can help you…
    Sorry for my english 😛

    thank rene,

i had this query posted on the final cut forum also, and they came up with a couple of suggestions there. i’ve managed to bodge together a solution, it’s not perfect but it’ll do.

i’ve stretched my video footage so it matches the audio, the audio still slips a little, but i can persevere with it.
it’s only going in a small window anyway, so hopefully it won’t be that noticeable.

thank you for your suggestion, i have tried doing that and its still out, simply because its just out whenever i play it on my mac full stop.
i tried downloading mpeg streamclip for pc and converting it there, but it wouldn’t even open the file.

i’m just gonna crack on with it in its current state i think, as the deadline is pretty tight!

    thanks again!
