WIsh list for CS6?
Posted by Joe Chow on December 19, 2011 at 10:59 pmI understand that Adobe monitors these forums quite assiduously. I am curious to know if there is a thread for a wish list of features to be included in Premiere Pro CS6. As a Final Cut Pro7 switcher, there’s quite a bit that I miss, in spite of liking a lot of the features in PPro 5.5.

December 20, 2011 at 4:06 amFine for you, but now I’ll have to wait for CS 6 and pay for the upgrade! Adobe, just fix the bugs so that it’s as good as FCP and don’t charge us for it!

December 27, 2011 at 9:30 pmI really think that Adobe is gonna step up and fill in all the gaps with CS6…
CS5.5 was written before Apple made their decisions to part ways with FCP as we know it. Now that this is known, I hope Adobe goes and gives us the [few] missing holes in PPro that FCP7 offered. Then they need to advertise the crap out of it and maybe even re-offer the 50% deal (which is what got me to switch).
My list is pretty small, I’ve submitted my requests, hopefully other people have the same requests and Adobe listens.
– More stock transitions, even cheesy ones (I don’t have a good answer when my client can do something in iMovie that I can’t do in Premiere Pro haha)
– Easier way to set and change duration for still clips and transitions
– More control of transitions (like what direction a clip moves with the Push transition)
– Snap to the razor blade tool
– Ability to change the audio format (mono/stereo) AFTER the track is imported
– More than 4 cams in multicamera modeJust little things like that would be great. Make sure you submit:

December 27, 2011 at 10:27 pmI agree with some of your list. I asked for:
– incremental Trim, like in FCP how you can park the roll and ripple icon on an edit point and move it incrementally by pressing the forward or backward arrow, or just type in an arbitrary number of frames to move it. It’s so much easier that inaccurate mouse manipulation or working in the clunky Trim Window.
– easier to select tracks to trim once in the Trim window. Right now unlinking tracks while in the Trim window is far from intuitive.
– a specific Fit To Fill edit command, instead of the 4-point edit command now, which leads to a menu of 3 options, only 1 of which is Fit to Fill, with the other 2 options being obvious and useless non-options
– slug or filler clips
-more realtime playback resolutions and options. It seems Adobe is so used to animators settling for low resolution playback in After Effects that it’s assumed editors will likewise settle for low-resolution stuttering playback in Premiere Pro. I suppose it is a function of the fact that my iMac graphics card is not supported by the Mercury Playback Engine (playback is better on my Mac Book Pro), still I don’t understand why it is so problematic in PP when I never had so many playback difficulties working with a wide range of HD formats in FCP.
However, there are a lot of stuff in Premiere Pro I do like more than FCP. The color correction tools for example. -

January 2, 2012 at 3:47 pmForgot the BIG ONE. A Copy/Paste Attributes command and menu like FCP. The biggest time-saver.

January 10, 2012 at 3:43 amIt’s quite lackluster compared to the FCP copy/paste attributes feature. In Premiere, all attributes that fall under the heading of video effects get pasted. In FCP, you are given a full menu of attributes (including basic motion, crop, distortion, drop shadow and filters) to choose to paste, so it’s both convenient and selective, and it’s much better thought out,
