Windows XP Pro or Vista for CS4?
I am thinking to pass from XP to Vista to increase the render speed of the Adobe Media Encoder, because with Vista the PC RAM useful memory can be greater than 4G, the most that XP recognize.
I am in the right way?

You should think about Vista more then Xp. The memory limit makes XP not so future proof. Plus you will be ready to upgrade to windows 7, which is a huge improvement over Vista is terms of performance and usability.
Most people also don’t realize that even though Xp supports up to 4GB of ram you can only use around 3gb of it. You waste an entire GB of memory.

Oh yes, Vista is the way to go, especially Vista-64 bit… like how about 6x faster than XP, according to this article:

I can confirm that CS4 works great in Windows 7, apart for an occasional video driver error(haven t been able to fix it yet *grumble*), it runs perfectly.

I have used CS4 on both XP and Vista x64. Vista x64 is works much better for me. I now have tried both 4gb and 8gb ram. Wow, it really runs better.

I appreciatte very much all the answers to muy post, thanks a lot. So, I will upgrade to Vista a put more RAM memory in my pc, in the next days, and maintain may processor, intel duo, for the moment. Afterwards I will came back to this post, to tell you my results.

Just remember you need Vista 64bit(x64)
You should get home premium or business.
