Whenever I encode a WM file I cannot scrub the video in Media Player. However, if I encode a Quicktime I can scrub the video in QT Player. Is there a setting that is missing in the WM encoder or the player for this?
I would much rather encode to WM for my clients but they complain that they can’t scrub the video.
    Thanks

Good question. Unfortunately, I have never been able to scrub in WM as well (version 10). However, I use Windows Media Player classic and I can scrub through the content perfectly.

    Thanks Aanarav,
I thought I used to be able to do it. Why would they take that ability out of MP 10?

The answer seems to be that the file has to be indexed before you can scrub and microsoft says that this is done in the encoder settings. However, I can’t find the “index” switch in the encoder in PPro2.
    Any ideas?

That is why Jacob Rosenberg suggests using Quicktime in Clip Notes – so you can go one frame at a time unlike WMV files. Strange isn’t it.
