I am a video editor who needs to encode multiple bit rate WMV files. Unfortunately, Windows media Encoder is the only software that does this so I must use a PC. With the new Intel Chips in Macs will it be possible to run Windows Media Encoder natively on the MAC OS?

Maybe someday. Your best bet is to watch Microsoft for an announcement about a new version of Virtual PC for Intel Macs. It’s likely that that version would run much better than past versions have.

They say they’ll be doing it, but I expect it could take up to a year from now before you’re able to buy something like that.

The other thing to watch is FLip 4 Mac:

I don’t THINK any of their products do that yet, but you could certainly ask them about it and see if they’re planning on it anytime soon.

I currently use Flip4Mac WMV Studio Pro 2.0.1. MBR functionality is planned for next April. But for the time being looks like I’ll have to continue encoding with a PC until Vista or the new VIrtual PC is released, or until Flip4Mac is ready…
