Windows formatted hard drive

I ask that because some functionality is possible depending upon the type of Windows format. However, if you’re asking if there’s any Windows formatted drive that is interchangeable and has complete functionality in a Mac environment, then answer is no.

March 10, 2011 at 9:31 pmFAT32 drive can be used with Macs but they have a problem with file sizes not exceeding 2 gig. NTFS drives can be read but you cannot write to them without third party software. Frankly this is just Apple being snarky.
I have Linux on the office computer and it reads and writes to everything, so Apple OS X (being basically Apple’s version of Linux) could do exactly the same but they choose not to.

March 11, 2011 at 10:25 amNTFS-3G does it. Although, I usually just use it to copy the material onto a Mac formatted drive, so I don’t edit with it.
